Our Lifeboat crews and Lifeguards need a dedicated, professional and talented team behind them so whatever the weather they can operate to the highest standards and save lives at sea.
We have lifeboat stations and lifeguard units based throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. Our Head office is in Poole, Dorset, overlooking the picturesque Holes Bay. Many of our staff are based in Poole, however we also have regional offices in Dublin, London, Perth, Saltash and Ipswich, as well as the Inshore Lifeboat Centre on the Isle of Wight.
As well as office buildings, our Poole site includes the RNLI College, where lifeboat crews and lifeguards come for training and the All-weather Lifeboat Centre, our newest facility where our lifeboats are built in-house.
On-site facilities include a staff canteen, gym, bar, hotel, library, waterfront restaurant, flexible working area and meeting rooms with Wi-Fi.
What roles are available?
RNLI staff work across the following business areas:
Business Services and Support: Provides essential expertise, services and support to meet the business needs of the whole of the RNLI
Community Lifesaving: The RNLI’s presence in the UK and Ireland communities – from rescue and prevention, to education and fundraising.
Engineering and Asset Management: Designs, builds and maintains our lifeboats, equipment and buildings so we are available to save lives 24/7.
Evidence, Insights and Technology: Sets evidence-led priorities for the RNLI and delivers technology solutions to drive and enable drowning prevention, lifesaving and support services.
Finance: Provides financial expertise, services and support across the organisation
International: Drowning claims an estimated 360,000 lives around the world each year, over one-third of which are children. This is a conservative estimate – the actual number is likely to be much higher. More than 90% of these drownings happen in low- and middle-income countries.
The RNLI is working with global leaders, public health organisations and at-risk communities to help turn the tide. We want to make drowning prevention a priority worldwide and reduce this staggering loss of life.
Operational Policy: Shapes the RNLI’s lifesaving and maritime policy, and also monitors operational performance.
People: We put people at the heart of what we do, using their strength, capability and ideas to support our lifesaving activities. Our job is to make sure the RNLI has the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time.
Strategy and Performance: Managing strategy and performance throughout the organisation.
Supply Chain: Supply Chain deliver and support all the goods and services the RNLI needs to keep running – from uniforms and kit and equipment to build our boats, to services such as marketing and financial services and everything in between.

Parking is available at our Headquarters and staff are able to apply for individual and car-share parking permits. On-site parking is not guaranteed and where available is charged at £1.50 per day. Anyone can gain a car-share parking permit for onsite parking.
Individual parking permits are prioritised using criteria of distance from site and caring responsibilities. A lottery system is then applied to allocate parking permits as they become available.
