We are seeking an experienced and influential transformation and change professional to lead a complex organisation-wide transformation programme. This will include leading all aspects of people, business processes and technology change including an ERP implementation to underpin the transformation. 

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was founded in 1824 to provide a 24/7 search and rescue lifeboat service. The delivery of this lifesaving work is only made possible by the support, dedication and commitment of our volunteers and staff, all pulling together as one crew.

This role is absolutely mission-critical for the RNLI. It requires experience working at all levels, being accountable for delivering a wide-ranging programme of business, and technology-enabled change including an ERP and other system implementations. Ideally, you should bring exposure to Microsoft Dynamics, but other products such as SAP or Oracle could also be acceptable. However, what is essential is that you have experience of and will collaborate with colleagues at all levels and support the delivery of new, effective ways of organisational working, improved business processes plus the associated supporting core business systems.  

Reporting to the Programme Sponsor - the CIO, and working directly with the Executive Team, you will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of this key strategic programme. You will provide strong, experienced leadership and be accountable for the delivery of the full scope of this business-wide, transformational change programme, helping achieve RNLI’s strategic goals. 

To succeed in this role, you will be experienced in driving organisational-wide transformation programmes. This should include major ERP system implementations, ideally encompassing retail, supply chain and asset management as well as the core areas such as finance and HR. You will have the ability to balance competing priorities, deal with complex financial concepts and succeed through cooperation and collaboration with others. This will include experience working positively with external delivery partners.

The Role

  • To be accountable for the successful delivery of all aspects of the business transformation programme, plus the underpinning ERP implementation. This comprises multiple organisational, data, user and technology workstreams over 12 discrete projects ranging across Finance, HR, Operations, Manufacturing and Supply Chain. 
  • Proactively work with the programme’s senior business stakeholders, encouraging collaboration across perceived organisational boundaries. Ensure alignment of the programme and associated investment, plus the pro-active management of risk, by actively engaging right across the programme’s complex governance landscape. 
  • The energetic, inspiring and engaging people leadership of multi-disciplinary teams of transformation delivery resources, both internal and external. Create a positive, shared, future vision for transformation outcomes and establish a high-performance working culture leading to successful programme delivery. 

The Candidate 

  • You will have a proven pedigree of delivering transformational business change outcomes. This will mean having been the programme director/ lead for a full ERP programme’s delivery lifecycle including all business process change, systems change, data and integration work. You will have been responsible for driving the pragmatic delivery of at least one major, complex transformation programme, preferably in an asset-intensive environment, and encompassing all aspects of process, people and technology change. 
  • Commercially astute and highly business-facing, you will have established rigorous but pragmatic structures and controls for both business and technology change delivery activities. You should demonstrate a proven, relentless focus on the successful delivery of transformation programme outcomes. 
  • You will be a credible senior leader of technology-enabled, business change. You will have a proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders and influence their agendas. You will also demonstrate the ability to act as an advocate for wider change, inspiring the adoption of high levels of change management discipline both in programme teams and across an organisation as a whole.
