Data Migration Developer - Temporary (up to 24 months)
About us
Our purpose is simple: to save lives at sea. For 200 years, our incredible lifeboat crews and lifeguards have shown selfless courage to rescue those in peril on the water. They are supported by a dedicated, professional, and talented team behind the scenes. This is your chance to join that team and use your unique skills to help save lives every day.
The Role
This role is about getting the right information to the right place reliably and securely. As a Data Migration Developer, you will be a key part of our technical team. You will write and run the processes that move our essential information from older systems to our new cloud-based platforms.
Your first major project involves our move to a 'composable ERP'. Rather than using one single system, we are choosing a series of specialised best-in-class applications for different business areas. Your job will be to develop the repeatable technical processes that migrate our data into these new applications. You will work alongside our data teams who are integrating these applications, ensuring information flows correctly and that our colleagues have what they need from day one. You are building the bedrock upon which our future ability to save lives will be built.
Some of the benefits
- Salary of £41,242 to £48,520 (dependent on experience)
- Up to an exceptional 16% employer pension contribution
- Flexible working and a culture that values work-life balance
- 26 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- Life assurance
- Excellent health and dental cashplan
About you
We are looking for a practical and skilled developer who enjoys solving data puzzles. You like to write clean effective code and you work well with others to get a job done properly.
We imagine you'll bring a blend of the following skills and experiences:
- A background in moving large or complex sets of data between business systems like ERP CRM or Finance systems.
- Strong SQL skills with experience of writing complex queries to get data out of and into different databases.
- Experience with data integration or ETL tools.
- A good understanding of the whole data migration process from analysing the source to checking the final data is correct.
- A history of working well with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand their needs and build what they require.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure would be an advantage.
If you are a developer who likes working with data and wants to use your skills on an important project where the outcome is measured in lives saved we would love to hear from you.
