About us

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a charity that provides a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service, seasonal lifeguards, and water safety education and initiatives. Our lifeboat crews and lifeguards need a dedicated, professional and talented team behind them, and that is where you come in. This is your chance to join that team and help save lives every day.

We are looking for a Data Governance and Quality Analyst to join us for up to 12 months, who will ensure that data workflows at the RNLI are compliant with processes and requirements, and that quality levels are maintained while using expertise to support continuous improvement and data delivery that underpins effective decision making.

The RNLI is committed to improving the way that we manage our information and data. This role takes a proactive approach to maintain and deliver a clear and consistent understanding of our current state in relation to condition of our data and how it is managed. It is critical to shaping our data readiness for organisational change, in terms of data management processes, and ensuring capability to maintain and enhance quality through anticipation of and resolution of issues.

Some of the Benefits

  • Salary - £34,893 to £41,050 (dependent on experience)
  • Flexible working
  • 26 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Outstanding pension scheme (contributions of up to 16% of basic salary)
  • Life assurance
  • Health and dental cash plan

Your Role

In this role you will

  • Provide regular reporting against full year requirements, with forecasting and profiling of trends. Maintain a view of capacity against demand for the DG&M team, anticipating and highlighting risks to support and/or delivery.
  • Deliver screening of data for data quality and data protection risks, with reporting.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with stakeholders to support data readiness and migration requirements as part of organizational transformation.
  • Undertake analysis of workflow data condition against agreed tolerances through regular checks and initiate/scope cleansing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain process mapping for existing and new workflows, ensuring they remain relevant through annual review or key org step changes, and accessible for users.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards to present data for stakeholders and end-users.
  • Participate in organizational development working groups, including daily stand ups.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement through active use of knowledge and expertise to support and drive efficiencies and effective working that deliver best practice in data governance and quality.
  • Deputise for the Data Governance and Quality Leads and support with processing as and when appropriate.

About You

We are looking for someone who is up for the opportunity of taking an amazing institution from a low level of data quality management maturity to understanding the value that good data management unlocks.  You will be an experienced user of data with a balance of sound technical data knowledge, great attention to detail and the desire to find and solve problems.   You are probably looking for the chance to use your skills in an organisation where you can really make a difference, and you’re looking for the satisfaction of knowing that your skills are contributing towards an amazing cause.

The successful candidate will also have experience of:

  • Working in Data analysis, ideally including experience defining data quality rules and requirements.
  • Creating visuals that represent data quality and statistics, and potentially you have developed business cases for change, ideally with experience of using Power BI.
  • Working with data quality tools, and SQL / TSQL code, and an understanding of data structures / relational databases.
  • You will have an understanding of the principles of data governance and the challenges to be met in an evolving data management landscape.

If this sounds like you, and you are someone who wants to work in an organisation that is driven by the desire to ensure that no-one should lose their life to drowning – apply today!
