We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Data Product Development team until 2nd July 2027 supporting our digital transformation projects by developing a new suite of reporting solutions based on a transition to a new ERP system. The Data Product Development team supports the RNLI’s ambitions to develop a vibrant data culture where evidence is at the heart of the decision-making process.  

Your Role 

As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will be tasked with the following: 

  • Working on the organisations transformation projects to ensure we capture and maintain data in the best way for producing great reports 
  • Engaging with business SME’s to understand their reporting needs, eliciting requirements and defining the scope and phasing of product delivery 
  • Collaborating with other Data teams to ensure we have the clean, complete and modelled data we need for great reporting 
  • Interpreting user’s needs and developing high quality BI solutions with great UI for a wide range of business areas 
  • Selling the new world of reporting solutions to customers and ensuring they are trained to get the most from our data and technological capabilities 

About You 

To be considered as the Business Intelligence Developer you will need: 

  • To be a self-starter, curious and independent team player, able to effectively prioritise activities & requests. 
  • To have strong demonstrable people engagement skills and experience working closely with business representatives to understand and deliver their requirements. 
  • A high degree of data literacy to ensure data is captured and modelled in the best way to produce the analysis and reporting the organisation requires. 
  • Technical expertise regarding visualization, storytelling, and data modelling. 
  • Technical understanding of modelling and designing efficient dimensional data models for reporting. 
  • Strong UI and UX competencies and enthusiastic about best practice data visualisation. 
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft BI stack including Power BI, Paginated Reports and Databricks. 
  • Experienced in the use of source control and task management tools. 
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle. 
  • An appreciation of Continuous Improvement methodologies and principles. 
  • An interest in improving how the organisation views and interacts with its data to make informed decisions 
  • Appreciation of ‘doing the right thing’.
