By the time you’ve read this advert, another life will have been lost to the water… you can change that.

Globally, drowning is a ‘silent epidemic’, responsible for almost 400,000 lost lives each year - Equivalent to more deaths than well-established development and public health priorities such as malnutrition and maternal mortality. In many countries, from Vietnam to Bangladesh, drowning is the leading cause of child mortality. But drowning prevention goes unrecognised and under-resourced; lacking global champions and effective solutions. We can change that … with your help.

You are exceptional. You understand international development, how to design sustainable and evidenced led initiatives and how to build strong and lasting partnerships; and you know how to make it happen. You will develop high-impact drowning reduction programmes and form relationships which deliver results… you will save lives.

You’ll shape and implement programmes in existing and new countries, help ensure drowning is recognised and resourced as a national priority. And, crucially, you’ll be a leader in ending the ‘silent epidemic’ of global drowning.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel and work from the RNLI's Headquarters based in Poole, Dorset, on a regular weekly or fortnightly basis .

Relocation will be considered for this role.

Diversity at the RNLI

Our staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. We respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within our teams, and consider it essential to help us deliver a world-class lifesaving service. We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping us work towards Our Vision: To save Every One.
