We’re looking for a Waste Management Coordinator to join our Sustainability team. This role supports the RNLI through ensuring the RNLI is a sustainable charity which manages our resources to the very best of our ability, ensuring waste management of our products to support the environment, legal, social and financial compliance and efficiency of the charity.

Your Role
As a Waste Management Coordinator you will be tasked with focus on the following areas:

Establishing sustainable systems & ensuring compliance - Develop and maintain robust waste segregation, disposal, and recycling systems while ensuring full legal compliance and accurate regulatory reporting.

Engage people & foster behavioural change - Empower staff and volunteers through training, communication, and awareness campaigns to promote responsible waste practices and environmental stewardship.

Drive improvement through data & innovation - Collect and analyse waste data to inform continuous improvement, support circular economy initiatives, and unlock smarter, resource-efficient ways of working
About You
You’ll have the ability to inspire, influence and adapt. You’ll also be patient and understanding whilst remaining focused and determined with an eye for detail. You’ll be organised and methodical but flexible as required, ensuring a completer finisher skill and be able to plan and organise the delivery of your tasks to achieve agreed objectives.
To be considered as the Waste Management Coordinator you will need:

Qualifications & Knowledge - Degree in Waste Management or a related discipline; or certification such as CIWM (WAMITAB Level 3 or above). Strong working knowledge of UK and Republic of Ireland waste and environmental regulations.

Desirable: Membership with CIWM (Associate level or higher) and/or IEMA (Associate level or higher).

Experience & Skills - Proven experience in corporate waste management, including hazardous waste handling.

Desirable: Understanding of the charity/non-profit environment and experience with integrated management systems.
This post is subject to clearance of a finance check - satisfactory to the RNLI.
