An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Station Manager to join our team at Chiswick Lifeboat station. Reporting to the Area Operations Manager, this position is available as a full time, 6 month fixed term contract or as a secondment for an internal candidate looking for a great development opportunity.
Using your exceptional people skills, you will act as an ambassador for the RNLI to further develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This is an important tactical post, and part of a multi-disciplinary team that has responsibility for the management and delivery of the lifeboat station, and area lifesaving plan.

Your role
In this role you will to be responsible for the operational compliance of the station, and the overall safety and effective management of the lifeboat station and its volunteers. As such, Health and Safety management will be a key part of the role with the aim of positively influencing our safety culture.
This role is based at Chiswick Lifeboat Station, where the candidate will be expected to spend approximately 85% of their working week on-site. While the role does not require the candidate to be a Thames Helm or Commander, a strong understanding of Search and Rescue (SAR) operations and/or the River Thames environment is advantageous.
Holding IOSH or an equivalent H&S qualification is desirable. This role also has the occasional requirement for regional travel and travel within London.
About you
You’ll be someone that has an ability to motivate, lead, coach and also have difficult conversations with people within an operational environment. Is willing to continually develop and improve both their own capabilities as well as those who work for them. Is flexible, inclusive and able to balance good planning and preparation with dealing with the unforeseen. Is an effective team player with a pragmatic approach to problem solving and a calm approach to a busy workload. Is passionate about lifesaving, values volunteering and working with the community and has the desire to implement and maintain the high standard expected of the RNLI.
To be considered as the Station Manager you will need:
To be successful in this role, you will be a great relationship builder; demonstrating excellent levels of trust, respect and communications across your sphere of influence. You will also be IT literate, in order to deliver an efficient and effective output at station level
You should have the ability to build and maintain close working relationships with volunteers and staff at the lifeboat station, keeping them engaged and focused as you coach, mentor and develop them within their roles.
