Safety Risk Insight Specialist - Temporary (up to 18 months)
Safety Risk Insight Specialist - Temporary (up to 18 months)
About us
Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. 24 hours a day, every day, RNLI lifesavers are ready to launch to the rescue.
We are currently looking for a Safety Risk Insight Specialist to join our Safety Team. This is an exciting time to join the team as we develop a newly adopted, progressive approach to learning from incidents and events across the RNLI. It’s our role to put continual learning at the heart of keeping our people safe – whether that’s while fundraising, educating members of the public, building boats, lifeguarding a beach, or rescuing people out at sea.
About the role
As our Safety Risk Insight Specialist, you will report to the SHE Training & Engagement Manager within the Safety Team. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of an overarching process to collate, integrate and analyse safety incident risk data using advanced analytical techniques to support continuous improvement.
You will make a significant contribution to helping save lives at sea, by:
- Acting as the RNLI’s analytical lead for safety risk data, including Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) incident and investigation reports.
- Collating, analysing, and continually improving the Safety KPI’s that feed into the RNLI’s Quarterly Performance Reporting.
- Applying statistical and predictive modelling techniques to interrogate SHE data to underpin safety risk management decisions.
- Leading on briefings to senior managers and RNLI communities where appropriate, presenting and depicting findings in easy-to-understand terms for the relevant audience.
- Acting as the BI Representative for the Safety function, representing and articulating customer requirements for the development of self-serve reporting for Safety data, including producing visual management products that provide an engaging and accessible overview.
- Acting as the primary liaison between the Data Team and the Safety Team to ensure systems, processes and insight products are consistent and compliant.
About you
You will be naturally inquisitive and reliable, with a desire to understand trends and patterns in data and a willingness to bring these to life.
To be considered as our Safety Risk Insight Specialist you will need to demonstrate:
- Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a mathematical/data subject
- Experience in data cleansing, transformation, and analysis, including relevant practical experience using Microsoft SSMS, PowerBI or other related analytical software.
- Experience in the analysis of risk performance, ideally safety risk, with an understanding of the principles of risk management
- Proven excellent communication skills to a range of people from senior managers to Trustees and non-technical communities.
- An understanding of the maritime, marine, or coastal environment and/or experience in a safety-related field would be desirable, as would previous experience as a safety risk analyst using analytical findings to inform decisions (preferably in blue light or equivalent environments)
In other organisations this role may be referred to as a safety risk analyst, safety data analyst, safety data specialist or health and safety analyst.
If you are passionate about safety and want to use your analytical skills and toolsets to help keep our people safe, apply now.
