We are looking for an International Evidence Manager to cover a 10 month secondment within our International Team. This role helps the RNLI ensure that our international work is based on strong evidence and best practice, helping us to save lives.
Globally, drowning is a ‘silent epidemic’, responsible for over 300,000 lost lives each year. In many countries drowning is a leading cause of child mortality, yet drowning prevention often goes unrecognised and is under-resourced; lacking global champions and crowded out of the political space. We can change that … with your help.
As the International Evidence Manager, you will play a pivotal role in embedding evidence-based decision-making across our international programmes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and addressing evidence gaps: Collaborate with country programme managers to pinpoint areas where evidence is lacking and develop targeted strategies to fill these gaps.
- Data analysis and actionable insights: Collect, analyse, and interpret programme data to generate well-founded recommendations that inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Research commissioning and oversight: Lead the commissioning and management of research projects, ensuring alignment with RNLI’s ethical standards and procurement procedures.
- Stakeholder engagement: Build and sustain relationships with key external stakeholders, including academic institutions, UN agencies, and in-country partner organisations, to strengthen our evidence base.
- Creative evidence communication: Work closely with colleagues to present evidence in engaging and accessible formats, ensuring it reaches and influences decision-makers effectively.
About you
You’re naturally inquisitive and thrive in collaborative, multi-disciplinary environments. You bring a strong commitment to ensuring that our international projects are grounded in robust evidence.
To be considered for the role of International Evidence Manager, you will need to demonstrate:
- Strong research and analytical skills: A solid understanding of research methodologies and the ability to translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Proven experience managing research projects: From initial design through to completion, including commissioning and working with external suppliers.
- Experience working in low-income country contexts: With a practical understanding of the challenges and nuances of applying research methods in these settings.
- Excellent communication skills: With a track record of effectively sharing research findings with diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You must be willing and able to travel internationally for this role. You’ll be working closely with partners in at least one of the countries connected to our work. Some countries may require specific vaccines and visas before entry and therefore it is a requirement of the role to have these when required. In this role we would expect between 6 and 8 weeks of international travel per year.
So, if you’re excited about the opportunity to use your skills tackle the global drowning problem, this could be the role for you. Please apply via the button shown.
