About us
Every day, our volunteers and staff work together to save lives at sea. In this role, you'll help ensure the experiences, lessons and stories from lifesaving operations are captured, shared and used to improve safety, training and public awareness. The RNLI is looking for a passionate and experienced Camera and Content Capability Manager to drive the development, adoption and future evolution of camera technology across our lifesaving operations. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to combine training, stakeholder engagement, operational support and technology development in a role that directly contributes to how we learn, improve and share the incredible work of our volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards.
About the role
As the organisation's subject matter expert for operational camera capability, you will work closely with teams across Lifesaving Operations, Engineering, Fundraising, Marketing and Media (FMM), and Communications to ensure cameras are used confidently, consistently and effectively. Whether supporting operational learning, enhancing safety, capturing powerful stories, or identifying future technology solutions, you will play a vital role in maximising the value of footage captured in some of the most challenging environments imaginable.
As the Camera and Content Capability Manager you'll:
- Lead a nationwide engagement programme with lifeboat crews and lifeguards, building confidence and consistency in camera use
- Design, deliver and continuously improve engaging training packages using blended learning approaches
- Act as the RNLI's central point of expertise for camera policy, guidance and training
- Support the moderation and management of operational footage, ensuring important content is identified and shared with relevant stakeholders
- Work closely with Engineering teams to oversee equipment maintenance, user feedback and future development of camera systems
- Ensure all filming activities and footage usage comply with GDPR, consent requirements and RNLI policies
- Identify emerging technologies and innovative solutions that could enhance filming capability in marine and coastal environments
- Monitor performance, gather user feedback and provide insight into opportunities for improvement
- Build strong relationships across operational, engineering and communications teams to champion the effective use of camera footage throughout the organisation
About you

Essential Skills and Experience required:
- Experience of delivering training to individuals and small groups
- Knowledge and experience of designing blended learning solutions and engaging training materials
- Experience in supporting behavioural change within an operational environment
- Understanding of communications best practice, including media relations and basic video production
- Knowledge or experience of filming in dynamic environments, ideally including marine or outdoor settings
- The ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
